SynopsisSiblings Shannon Johnson, Solon McDade and Jeremiah McDade are The McDades. Their Celtic-rooted music fuses the spontaneity of jazz improvisation with infectious global rhythms. Their unique sound is the perfect complement to their fiery performances.
The McDades’ passion and success stems from being born into a world of music. Growing up in Edmonton, they played all over Alberta in small towns, folk festivals and at many major national events with their parents Terry and Danielle in The McDade Family Band; an experience that profoundly influenced who the siblings are as musicians today. They are world class in their technical expertise. Jeremiah, a multi-instrumentalist, has been described by the Washington Post as “the Dizzy Gillespie of the Irish penny whistle.” Solon is sought after as a jazz bass player in Montreal and has toured with the likes of the Susie Arioli Swing Band. Shannon has earned a reputation as one of the top fiddlers in Canada and continues to make a name for herself as a composer, arranger and producer. Filmed in Edmonton and Montreal, and on tour in Alberta and the Netherlands, the film offers a glimpse into the real lives of these hugely likeable, talented and hard-working musicians. |
